Leo led the way to the area where lost pets can be reunited with their humans. He flew most of the way, landing now and then to check in with Blain. Every time the parrot flapped his wings to take flight, Blain would startle.
“Just keep yourself in the air,” Blain eventually advised Leo. “I can see you from down here.”
It was quite the trek. The sun was setting, and although both could easily wander the forest at night, fatigue set in.
“We should set up camp here,” Leo said.
“Here?” Blain trembled. “This is my first night being alone without my human.”
“I’m here with you,” Leo extended his wing and gently petted Blain.
