The Lost Pet Series: Part 1

It always happens. A dog and its owner go on an outing in the middle of the woods. They find a big grassy field far from cars. The owner eventually unclips the leash from the dog’s collar.

“What harm can my dog’s way all the way out here?” The owner thinks, then returns to his paperback, while the dog sniffs at the almost never-trodden-upon grass.

This is precisely what happened with Blain, except his owner seemed to be struggling with the leash and a heavy pack. They had reached a giant field with one rotting wooden picnic bench dab smack in the middle.

Blain was so excited to be on such an adventure, but the leash twisted around the owner’s leg. The leash was then unclipped from Blain. This eager young golden retriever pup hadn’t smelled such glory in all of his ten months. He couldn’t help but run around everywhere. He ran so much that when he looked up, he couldn’t find his owner anywhere. Blain listened, but heard nothing but birds chirping in the distance. Where was the wooden bench and open field?
