Blain had been walking for what felt like lifetimes. He was trailed by the slithering Gus and led by the ever-excited Leo.
“We almost there?” Blain asked yet again.
“I’m ignoring you,” Leo said, flapping his wings impatiently.
“Never trust a bird,” Gus replied.
“Why not?” Leo asked. “I’m trustworthy.”
“You talk too much,” Gus said. “What is this?”
What was once forest was now a muddy patch.
“How am I supposed to get through this?” Blain asked.
“Using your four paws,” Leo advised.
“Yummy mud!” Gus slithered into the mud, almost becoming invisible inside it.
Blain sighed deeply before taking a step into the mud patch.
