Blain did everything in his canine powers to prevent himself from sniffing Leo. He’d never seen such a flying creature in his short life. Anytime Blain took a step closer to Leo, the parrot flapped its wings and squawked. That sound made Blain duck as if under attack.
“My apologies,” Leo said. “It’s a habit. Not used to being so close to…dogs…that’s the word…you’re a dog.”
“A dog?” Blain asked, wagging his tail. “Yeah, that tracks.”
“There’s a place where lost creatures like us go,” Leo said. “I can take you there.”
“Hold it,” Blain said, while sniffing the air around Leo. “If you know of a place where lost creatures like us go, why haven’t you gone there yet?”
Leo rolled his eyes and whistled, “Oh boy!”
